Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) finds herself in the unenviable task of disproving Liber8‘s responsibility for an anti-corporate attack that leaves 12 dead and appears to fit their modus operandi (at least on the surface). Paired with Dillon (Brian Markinson) who is all too eager to pin the chemical attack on Fermitas on the terrorist group, Kiera enlists the help of Betty (Jennifer Spence) to dig a bit deeper and even receives a visit from Garza (Luvia Petersen) who claims Liber8 is being framed for the crime.
Carlos (Victor Webster) gets his own B-story involving an anti-corporate whistle blower (Danielle Kremeniuk) and Julian Randol (Richard Harmon) who brings the woman’s proof to Diana Bolton (Michelle Harrison) as part of expose against Sonmanto. Eventually the truth of the situation comes to light, but not before both Carlos and Julian discover how they have been used and Kiera suspects (but can’t prove) both cases are connected as the true purpose of the attack that left a dozen dead to be corporate espionage to lower stock price and allow Somanto to leverage a buy-out.
After Kiera receives a threatening call from Chen (Terry Chen), who also makes a visit to Kellog (Stephen Lobo), it’s obvious the former Freelancer still has a large role to play the remainder of the season. Kellog begins his own revenge sending in Jason (Ian Tracey) as a Trojan Horse to steal some of Alec‘s (Erik Knudsen) secrets now that the boy genius has sold Piron on the idea of HALO.
“So Do Our Minutes Hasten” continues the show’s themes and muddy shade of gray with Kiera beginning to have serious doubts about the current privatization that will grow into the future she knows. And, still being punished fro his anti-corporate statements in the last episode, Carlos finds himself working with Thesius both of whom find themselves with eggs on their faces by the end of the episode.
While showing Kiera defending Liber8 and fighting Dillon we also see a future flashback involve Kiera forced to arrest her own mother (Gabrielle Rose) for a political protest against the system she’s dedicated her life to protect. Last season left Kiera trapped in a Freelancer cage, it will be interesting to see where she ends up this year. And following Emily (Magda Apanowicz) recent departure, Continuum looses another supporting character in the episode’s final scene as the truth behind the Fermitas and the group responsible remains impossible to prove and adds one more casualty to its cause.
