- Title: Castle – Significant Others

Castle’s (Nathan Fillion) life gets infinitely more complicated when Alexis (Molly C. Quinn) returns home from school suffering from mono, his ex-wife Meredith (Darby Stanchfield) arrives unannounced, and Beckett (Stana Katic) moves in temporarily while her apartment is being fumigated. And then there’s that pesky murder of prominent female divorce attorney to solve.
The victim’s boyfriend (Mark Deklin), a financial consultant (Adrian LaTourelle) whose name was written on a piece of paper the woman was holding the night that she died, an ex-con (Deji LaRay) who worked as her part-time photographer, and s disgruntled former client (Nancy Lee Grahn), all tell them the same thing: the victim was acting increasingly erratic in the days leading up to her murder. The mystery deepens when the boyfriend mysteriously disappears and Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) discover the man’s entire identity is a sham.
After some digging Ryan is able to link their victim’s murder to one her old cases involving a professional golfer (Jack Wagner) who everyone believes got away with killing his wife (one of the victim’s former clients). However, the truth is far more interesting and leads Castle straight to the attorney’s killer.
I’ll admit to seeing the twist of the dead wife (Victoria Pratt) coming, but it works well enough, and the best parts of the episode focus on Castle’s no-win situation involving Beckett and Meredith. Although Castle makes it through the week relatively unscathed, the episode’s final scene between Beckett and the ex-wife foreshadows possible trouble for our lovebirds down the line.
