- Title: Castle – Dreamworld

With Castle (Nathan Fillion) only having 10-12 hours left to live, Beckett (Stana Katic) and McCord (Lisa Edelstein) track down a reporter (Warren Christie) whose story on Dreamworld was killed by the Secretary of Defense (Glenn Morshower). The Secretary, while denying the existence of Dreamworld to Beckett and McCord, does give them information on the resume of their dead solider that leads the FBI to believe they may have uncovered an Al Queda terrorist attack in retaliation for a heavily redacted air strike the soldier was part of which involved the death of American Intelligence asset codenamed “Valkyrie.”
As time runs out McCord continues to dig and gives the team the name and face for the Valkyrie which ties everything back full circle to the reporter, who it turns out was the young woman’s fiance. The theft of the toxin wasn’t for a terrorist attack but for simple revenge, and the man isn’t done yet. Getting wind something is wrong with her son, Martha (Susan Sullivan) enlists the help of Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) to find out what is going on with Castle and Beckett and why neither will return her phone calls but neither are able to get the truth from their friends.
Just before the clock strikes midnight on Castle, Beckett and her fiance play one last hunch determining the reporter’s next victim and in doing so save the lives of both Castle and the wife of the Defense Secretary. Although Beckett is able to save Castle and earn a feather in her cap in the process the episode also lays the groundwork for her frustration with Washington politics when she learns neither the Defense Secretary’s obstruction of a federal case nor his original crime he was covering up will ever be prosecuted.
Fun Fact: This episode took place on July 19, 2013 and it was 11:09 when Castle woke up in the hospital.
