- Title: Atlantis – The Day of the Dead

Atlantis has zombies! Who knew? Picking up where the “The Marriage of True Minds” left off, the latest episode sees Jason (Jack Donnelly) make an uneasily alliance with Medea (Amy Manson) after their tumble down the pit leaves them surrounded by zombie soldiers raised from the dead by Pasiphae‘s (Sarah Parish) curse. His decision to trust his queen’s enemy, however, may well lead to the biggest regret of the champion’s life.
While Ariadne (Aiysha Hart), Pythagoras (Robert Emms), and Hercules (Mark Addy) hole up in one of the tombs with Orpheus (Ronald Pickup) and Eurydice (Sian Thomas) more tragedy will strike as another member of the band will be transformed into the living dead. Eventually the group is reunited, but before the episode’s end Jason’s trust and honor will be taken advantage of leaving the continued survival of the woman he loves very much in doubt.
Taking place entirely inside the caves, there’s plenty of action involving the undead horde as well as a betrayal that (if allowed to stand) may lead to lasting ramifications for the entire series. Earlier this season The Oracle‘s (Juliet Stevenson) vision teased us with Jason’s adventures after leaving Atlantis. The final scene of “The Day of the Dead” sets the stage for Jason’s departure from the city should the series choose to capitalize on it, likely taking the show in a far different direction minus its main love interest.
