The February 10th edition of AEW Rampage was notable for the opening match featuring the Blackpool Combat Club taking on Kip Sabian and the Butcher & the Blade and the main event of Orange Cassidy defending the All-Atlantic Championship against Lee Moriarty. In between we got a flurry of quick interviews and backstage segments along with some less notable short matches with chaotic post-match scrums.
Highlights
- Opening trio match featured Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta of the Blackpool Combat Club defeating Kip Sabian and the Butcher & the Blade as AEW continues to build up the BCC as a faction to be reckoned with. Later in the night we got a callback during a backstage interview between Renee Paquette and a still irate “Hangman” Adam Page over his recent loss to Moxley getting interrupted by Sabian setting up a match between the pair next week.
- Orange Cassidy, with Danhausen at ringside, successfully defended the All-Atlantic Championship against Lee Moriarty. Solid match between the pair that turned into a bit of chaos after the bell with Jeff Jarrett‘s stable attacking Cassidy and Danhausen before the Acclaimed came out to make the save.
- We got the tease of another Rene interview, this one with Adam Cole about his return which will air next week on AEW Dynamite.
Lows:
- Short match in which Ruby Soho beat Marina Shafir which never quite found its rhythm. It doesn’t help that AEW hasn’t found a way to get Shafir over with the fans yet. After the match Toni Storm and Saraya came to the ring before they were jumped by Britt Baker and friends.
- Impractical Jokers segment on the ramp with Chris Jericho ending with the JAS putting the pair through a table. Cross-promotion aside, this was a waste of TV time.
- Lexy Nair‘s pre-taped interview with Dustin Rhodes, shot in what appeared to be an abandoned warehouse (but may have just been some less-used area backstage), calling out Swerve Strickland before getting beaten up by his goons. Heated but sloppy interview from Rhodes before the short beatdown.
- Pre-taped interview with Ortiz attempting to further the House of Black and Eddie Kingston story which AEW lost the thread of some weeks ago.
Less Notable:
- Lexy Nair’s backstage interview with Mark Briscoe was interrupted by Mark Sterling and the Varsity Athletes likely setting them up as Briscoe’s first series of matches against AEW’s lower mid-card stable.
- Short Ricky Starks backstage promo calling out the JAS
- Quick match for Jungle Boy defeating local jobber before being interrupted by Brian Cage.
