Live from the Los Angeles KIA Forum, AEW Dynamite kicked off its second episode of 2023 with the showdown between “Hangman” Adam Page and Jon Moxley. The night also included the final match in the best-of-seven for the Trios titles, the return of Adam Cole, JungleHOOK, Bryan Danielson vs. Takeshita, and Baker & Hayter vs. Saraya and Toni Storm.
Highlights:
- In the opening hard-hitting match “Hangman” Adam Page defeated Jon Moxley in a match that saw Hangman hit a top rope moonsault at ringside and Moxley target the cowboy’s head and neck before ultimately falling to the Buckshot Lariat.
- Adam Cole returned for an in-ring promo announcing his return (to thunderous applause) after several months and putting the AEW locker room on notice.
- The team of Jungle Boy and Hook defeated The Firm’s Big Bill and Lee Moriarty highlighted by a spot with Hook t-boning Big Bill.
- Interrupting before the next match between Bryan Danielson aa Konosuke Takeshita, MFJ talked trash to Konosuke, celebrities in the audience Ken Jeong and Freddy Prinze Jr., and women all over Los Angeles.
- Bryan Danielson defeated Konosuke Takeshita in a hell of a match full of great spots includin a ringside sheer-drop brainbuster.
- Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker defeated the team of Saraya and Toni Storm in a match that also saw Hikaru Shida‘s interference backfire and cost Storm the match.
- Ricky Starks and Action Andretti interrupted a fun celebratory moment with all members of the JAS in attendance and dressed in matching sports entertainment gear.
- In the main event The Elite squared off in the final match with Death Triangle in a wild 6-man ladder match with Kenny Omega climbing the ladder and claiming the AEW Trios Championships for The Elite.
