- Title: Adventures of Superman – The Haunted Lighthouse

Superman Sunday takes us back to the 1950s and a strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. In the show’s second episode, Jim Olson (Jack Larson), noticeably never called Jimmy, visits some family on Moose Island only to become increasingly concerned with their behavior and odd occurrences on the otherwise empty island including an abandoned lighthouse which appears to be back in operation. The first-half of the episode is built entirely around Jim, who finally contacts Clark Kent (George Reeves) at The Daily Planet for assistance bringing both Clark and Superman to the island to investigate the odd occurrences.
Adapted from a radio drama, the episode is extremely heavy with narration early on and does struggle a bit at times before our hero’s arrival on the island. Clark is the one who discovers what is going on far sooner than the oblivious Jim whose family have been replaced by smugglers using the island to get goods into the country. Super moments include Superman’s flying to the island, the knife of one of the smugglers bending when hitting Superman’s chest, and our hero’s rescue of Jimmy from drowning in one of the island underground caves by bending the bars trapping him inside.
