- Title: A Discovery of Witches – Episode 2

The second episode of A Discovery of Witches features Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode) attempting to steer clear of Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer), attempting to get his desires under control, while Diana discovers the stir she’s created given her access to the missing manuscript. The realization of what the witches want it for, the methods they use to attempt to frighten her into getting it for them, and a personal betrayal, all leave Diana at her wits end with no one left to turn to other than the vampire.
Clairmont, it turns out, makes a far more compelling case for the book introducing the vampire research group and revealing a startling truth that magic is leaving the world putting all supernaturals in progressively more and more dangerous situations. We see a possible example of the instability the vampire speaks of in Juliette Durand (Elarica Johnson) in a segment that feels a bit out of place (at least for one who hasn’t read the source material) and her attack on a young tourist who reminds her of someone else. This was the one part of the episode that felt out of place, particularly in that the segment started the episode and was referred to again without adding more context.
