- Title: 24: Live Another Day – Part 9

Following President Heller‘s (William Devane) public sacrifice Margot Al-Harazi (Michelle Fairley) begins destroying all of the drones. However, after discovering that she’s been tricked and that Heller is still alive Margot keeps the last drone under her control leaving Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) to lead a search for Al Harazi before she takes out her vengeance on innocent London civilians.
With the help of Adrian Cross (Michael Wincott), Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) is able to narrow down the location of the terrorists to a single office building leaving Jack, Kate (Yvonne Strahovski), Erik (Gbenga Akinnagbe) and the CIA team to storm the building allowing Bauer to stop an attack on Waterloo Station and kill both Margot and her son Ian (Liam Garrigan) halfway through the episode. In a season where a matter of seconds have led to huge repercussions the trend continues as Jack is quick enough to stop the current threat but not fast enough to see a new threat looming just in front of him.
The discovery of Jordan Reed‘s (Giles Matthey) body unites the two ongoing stories as Navarro (Benjamin Bratt), fearful of exposure, makes a deal with Cross and steals the box (which it turns out can do far more than hack into drones) only seconds before Bauer can tie him to Reed’s murder. Although amping up the importance of the box allows the season to exponentially offer more in the way of threats, in doing so it also lessens the believability going forward with what is now a super-hack which can trump any United States Government security from drones to nuclear submarine launch codes.
Navarro’s unmasking happens quicker than I expected, but the real twist is Chloe returning to Cross unaware of how he’s acquiring the box and what he might plan to do with it. How she reacts in the next episode or two will define her as a friend or enemy going forward as any number of attacks which could result in the deaths of far more than Margot Al-Harazi ever planned. Events should also move quickly to reexamine the case against Kate’s husband giving her extra motivation to find the man responsible for ruining her life.
