Picking up directly from the end of the last issue with Devastator ripping through the depleted ranks of the Autobots, Transformers #6 is most notable for the tease of Optimus Prime‘s death before one of the Transformers’ new friends makes a sacrifice. And then we see what a badass Optimus Prime can be, stemming the tide and pushing the Decepticons back on their heels.

In between both the Autobots and the Decepticons racing to rebuild their forces to get an upper hand in their never-ending war, we get a couple of battles and some moments of the Autobots with their new human friends. Transformers #5 offers some fun moments such as Starscream‘s glee in choosing how to widening the numbers of Deceptions, and later, when the Autobots make a run at the Ark, revealing the not-to-little surprise for him. Of course we also get the sheer terror from the character is seeing what Optimus Prime is now using for an arm.

Reimaging the timeline of the Transformers arrival on Earth, the war between the Decepticons and Autobots has found a new home. With just a handful of warriors on both sides, and many more in need of repair and energon, the Decepticons led by Starscream attempt to wipe out the Autobots once and for all.

Set between the events of Bumblebee and Michael Bay’s first Transformers movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beast pulls in characters from Beast Wars: Transformers and The Transformers: The Movie without a basic understanding of either one while not making much use of any of them. Instead, events around a genius archeologist intern (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier on hard times (Anthony Ramos) who attempt to keep a magic crystal out of the hands of the Terrorcons who want to use it to bring forth Unicron (Colman Domingo) who is somehow trapped in another region of space.
