The Flash - Out of Time

The Flash delivers a game-changing episode including removing any doubt as to the identity of the Reverse-Flash, allowing Iris (Candice Patton) to admit her feelings for Barry (Grant Gustin) and discover his secret, and deliver the death of a major character. Or did it? The show’s creators have been teasing us for some time that time travel will play an important role of the show’s run and that all begins with “Out of Time,” first when Barry catches a glimpse of another version of himself and later as the character discovers he has been offered a second chance to change the events the past day and alter the timeline.

The Flash: Season Zero #5

The Flash: Season Zero #5“Smoak Signals” reunites the Flash and Felicity when Green Arrow‘s Girl Friday is target by killer robot drones known as Sky Lords who have been programmed to take out Ms. Smoak. I though the two shows gave up on the possibility of a Felcity/Barry relationship far too quickly so its fun to see the two thrown together here (albeit as friends). Given that the issue teases, but doesn’t offer the identity of, who wants Felicity dead I’m betting we’ll see the thread of this story picked up in the near future.

The first few pages of the issue also give us Felicity watching the Flash battle the Hydro Hunter whose origins and motivations aren’t explored here. The fight is fun but given the level of the villain’s powers he seems an odd choice for what boils down to a pre-credit scene fight. However, the sequence does illustrate how Felicity continues to keep tabs on Barry and offer a more a-hole version of the pre-Atom Ray Palmer than we’ve seen on the show so far (what a dick!).

Fans of both The Flash and Arrow should enjoy the crossover even if questions are left unanswered. Worth a look.

The Flash - Fallout

“Fallout” serves two purposes as the latest episode of The Flash wraps up the Firestorm storyline by decoupling Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) and Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and removing any doubt to the identity of the Flash‘s (Grant Gustin) arch-villain as Barry learns a troubling truth that he will travel back in time to save his mother… and fail.

The Flash - The Nuclear Man

After teasing us for weeks slowly putting the pieces together about what happened to Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) The Flash finally turns its attention to Firestorm whose growing instability endangers all of Central City. Although the main storyline gives the episode its name, promises to cause the return of General Wade Eiling (Clancy Brown), and offers more insight to the mind/body combination of Ronnie and Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber), the episode’s various subplots may have more lasting impact on Barry‘s (Grant Gustin) life.

The Flash - Crazy for You

Although the main story lacks a big name Flash villain there’s quite a bit to enjoy in the latest episode of The Flash. “Crazy for You” introduces our hero to a new meta-human in the unfortunately-named Peek-a-Boo (Britne Oldford) who has the ability to teleport short distances within line-of-sight allowing her to break her boyfriend (Micah Parker) out of prison and go into business for his boss using her powers for big scores leading her into contact with the Flash (Grant Gustin).
