The Flash - Lose Yourself television review

Playing close to form, “Lose Yourself” features a heartbreaking defeat for Team Flash. Not only does the super-villain out-think the team and take down the last remaining bus meta, but DeVoe also cuts even closer to home when he takes Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) as well. Barry‘s (Grant Gustin) failure is complete. Every single one of the bus metahumans created by his return from the Speed Force has been killed off by the super-villain who now controls all of their abilities. And it doesn’t appear that he’s done just yet.

The Flash - Null and Annoyed television review

Without a reason for the change, Ralph (Devon Graye) backpedals into the and even more jokey and less reliable friend first introduced this season as he and Barry (Grant Gustin) search for another of the bus meta-humans. Of course, Barry falling back into jerk mode doesn’t help the situation any. Giving herself the name Null (Bethany Brown), the new meta has the ability to alter gravitational forces on people and things making them temporarily weightless (before plummeting back to Earth with a big bang). “Null and Annoyed” is pretty forgettable, as it feels like the show is treading water leading up the the inevitable confrontation with DeVoe.

The Flash - Enter Flashtime #tvreview

“Enter Flashtime” is one of the series’ more interersting set-ups. While Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team manage to step in and help round up a group of terroists stealing an A.R.G.U.S. experimental fission weapon they are not fast enough to prevent them from activating it. Moving at super-speed with the rest of the world stuck in the moment of explosion, Barry struggles to come up with a solution to save the city from the equivalent of a nuclear blast. Pulling others into his “Flashtime” our hero races to find a solution before time runs out for the rest of Central City. Fortunately for our hero he has the help of a couple of speedsters from other Earths in and Jay (John Wesley Shipp) and Jesse (Violett Beane) to lean on. Unfortunately, the heroes disagree on Harry‘s (Tom Cavanagh) plan to send the bomb into the Speed Force and the other attempts they make all end in failure.

The Flash - Subject 9 television review

“Subject 9” continues the season’s larger arc as DaVoe seeks out another of the meta-humans created by the Flash‘s (Grant Gustin) return from the Speed Force in a musician with the ability to control sound waves. Prompted by Barry and Ralph (Devon Graye), a reluctant Izzy (Miranda MacDougall) agrees to train with the heroes who believe, for a brief second, they might stand a chance against the super-villain who has stayed one-step ahead of them this entire season. While earning his freedom, Barry discovers his return to the crime lab will have to wait until there is more closure with the DaVoe case. For now it appears Barry will have to do his crime fighting in a blur of scarlet and gold.

The Flash - True Colors #tvreview

The return of an old acquaintance who questions Ralph‘s (Devon Graye) ability to go straight has the unintended consequence of helping the Elongated Man discover a new power to alter his rubbery physique to temporarily duplicate the appearance of others. Meanwhile Barry (Grant Gustin) is locked in Warden Wolfe‘s (Richard Brooks) secret meta-human prison and offered up with its other inmates to Amunet Black (Katee Sackhoff) in order to be sold to the highest bidder. Queued into the scheme thanks to Cecile‘s (Danielle Nicolet) temporary psychic powers, and with the help of Ralph’s new powers, Team Flash works on a plan to save its leader (who is working on his own escape with the help of his fellow inmates).
