Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Downfall and Duel of Droids

R2-D2‘s importance both to Anakin (Matt Lanter) and the Republic is highlighted in this two-episode arc when Anakin’s trap for General Grievous (Matthew Wood) fails losing both his ship and his astromech droid. Given that R2 contains battle plans and strategies key to the entire sector it quickly becomes a race as to who can get their hands on the droid first. It also leaves the Rebel general vulnerable as his replacement droid turns out to be working for Grievous (something it takes everyone far too long to figure out) and continues to put the Jedi in harms way.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Ambush

The first episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars builds on the setting introduced in the feature film set between the events of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Rather than center around Anakin (Matt Lanter) and his young padawan, “Ambush” is a separate Yoda (Tom Kane) adventure as the Jedi Master travels to the system of Toydaria in hopes of forming an alliance. Beaten there by Count Dooku‘s (Corey Burton) emissary Asajj Ventress (Nika Futterman) and an entire Droid Army, Yoda finds himself in a contest against the Separatists to win the support of King Katuunko (Brian George).
