Set five years prior to the events of the original Star Wars, Star Wars Rebels introduces us to the motley crew of the Ghost: ship’s captain Hera (Vanessa Marshall), Mandalorian artist and explosives expert Sabine (Tiya Sircar), Zeb (Steven Blum), insane robot Chopper, Jedi in hiding Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.), and the newest member of the crew in thief turned padawan-in-training Ezra (Taylor Gray).

Capturing the feel of the original film while introducing us to an entirely new set of characters (and a few familiar faces). I was immediately hooked. Highlights of the First Season include the two-part season premiere, the arrival of Grand Moff Tarkin (Stephen Stanton), Ezra earning his lightsaber, Empire Day, the battle against The Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs), the introduction of a familiar scoundrel, a look inside the Imperial Academy, and the season finale which brings back a pair of familiar faces who will likely have a large impact on Season Two.

Tricked into returning to Lothal to rescue Minister Tua (Kath Soucie) who offers them valuable intelligence for their assistance, the crew is lured into the first of two traps by Darth Vader (James Earl Jones).

The First Season of Star Wars Rebels comes to a close with the crew of the Ghost laying everything on the line to rescue Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) from the Empire. With the help of an Imperial shuttle and the stolen T.I.E. Fighter (“Fighter Flight“) and Ezra‘s (Taylor Gray) Jedi senses the crew has their way onto the Star Destroyer and a way to find their missing Jedi although, as is the case with almost all their plans, things don’t go as smoothly as expected.

Not knowing where to start, Ezra is forced to reveal his secret to Vizago (Keith Szarabajka) and agree to I.O.U. likely to bite the young padawan in the ass in the near future (if he lives long enough).

Planning to hijack an Imperial communication array to spread the truth about the Empire, the one thing Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and his crew don’t take into account is the arrival of Grand Moff Tarkin (Stephen Stanton) who is displeased by the locals inability to deal with the rebel cell on Lothal and is taking over their capture personally.
