Spider-Woman

West Coast Avengers #1

The new volume of West Coast Avengers introduces a team led by Tony Stark (wearing some classic, if underpowered, armor) including War Machine, Spider-Woman, Firestar, and a pair of former villains in the Ultron and the new character Blue Bolt (showcasing the idea for the team to try and reform villains and turn them into heroes using their powers for good). The result of the teams actions in the field, so far, are mixed. And as for Ultron… it seems the redeemed robot has a new hobby not likely to win over new friends.

Spidey Super-Stories #32

Spidey Sunday takes us back to the late 70s and the first time Spider-Man met Spider-Woman. The two-part story is a bit bonkers, following the basic formula of a super-hero misunderstanding when Peter and Aunt May arrive in London and Peter discovers a Spider-Woman is on a crime-spree. Suiting up, he tracks down and fights Spider-Woman until he discovers it’s not the same woman committing the crimes, and that an imposter is working for Doc Ock. Teaming up, the pair take down the fake, although Doc Ock gets away (along with any rationale for this bizarre scheme).

Madame Web

It’s rare to find a movie that is seemingly as self-aware of being awful as Sony’s Madame Web. I can’t confirm that cast and crew deliberately set out to make a bad B-movie but that’s really the only way that this film’s existence makes any sense. Its mind-blowing faults in every aspect of filmmaking presents an unapologetic dumpster fire to keep you guessing what bad decision, in front or behind the camera, will be made next.

Spider-Woman #1

Spinning out of Spider-Woman getting cut out of the Web and Life and Destiny (okay, I’ll be honest, I didn’t follow this storyline and I’m not really all that clear on the fallout of it other than it seems to have cut Jess out of shared consciousness for a bit) and then being returned to it, and part of the new ongoing crossover Gang War (gangs of villains in New York fighting for control, or something like that?), Jessica Drew gets a new series which begins with Jess tracking down Hydra (and looking for a son who apparently has been removed from mass consciousness and/or existence due to the trouble with the Web).
