Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons #1

Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons #1 comic reviewReally the best thing about Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons #1, the first issue of a new four-part series introducing Morty to the idea of Dungeons & Dragons, is the odd assortment of variant covers for this issue that showcase various D&D elements including a characters sheet Morty cover, a cover based on the old D&D box set, Rick and friends playing D&D in the basement and several others. As for the comic itself, it’s okay (but never reaches the level of fun the concept suggests it should).

Rick and Morty - The Complete Third SeasonThe Third Season of Rick and Morty picks up with Rick‘s (Justin Roiland) war against the Galactic Government in an episode that features body switching, Rick’s loss of the ability to improv, and lots of dead government officials. Rick’s victory and return to Earth sets things back to normal (or as normal as things get for a show where one character turns himself into a pickle to get out of family therapy).

Highlights from the season include Rick and Morty‘s humorous take on a clip show, the return of the Vindicators, the Mad Max episode complete with Morty’s (Roiland) murderous arm, Rick’s adventure with a depressed Jerry (Chris Parnell), Rick and Morty getting into a growing confrontation with the President of the United States (Keith David), and Beth (Sarah Chalke) discovering a troubling truth about her childhood.

Rick and Morty - The Rickchurian Mortydate TV review

The Third Season finale of Rick and Morty puts Rick (Justin Roiland) and Morty (Roiland) at odds with the President of the United States (Keith David) whose latest assignment they blow-off to play Minecraft. After being declared enemies of the state, Rick and Morty continue to undercut the President by saving the world before he gets a chance such as brokering peace with a miniature nation in Brazil. Fuel is only added to the fire when the President attempts to have his Secret Service kill Rick in the Oval Office (which only leads to lots, and lots, of dead Secret Service agents).

Rick and Morty - The ABCs of Beth television review

Just who is Beth (Sarah Chalke)? For nearly three full seasons Rick and Morty has shown us who people want her to be, but who is she really? The discovery that her childhood imaginary world was actually a pocket dimension created by Rick (Justin Roiland) to keep her away from harming other kids (with ray guns and a whip to make others like her, yeesh), and that a childhood friend believed to have been killed by his father has been trapped there for decades is the start of a father/daughter adventure in which Beth realizes just how much like her father she truly is. Who is Beth? Turns out she’s very much her father’s daughter.
