Spooky Saturday takes us back to 2005’s Constantine starring Keanu Reeves as the chain-smoking asshole needed to save the world. Earning mixed reaction from critics, the film scored big at the box office and has built up an even larger cult following over the past two decades leading to a the possible resurrection of a potential sequel in the near future.

Returning to theaters 25 years after its release, The Mummy is an odd bit of entertainment. When it was released you could refer to it as a poor man’s Indiana Jones (of course, that was before the two lackluster attempts to revive that franchise in both Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny). Part B-movie serial, part Evil Dead 2-style horror flick (never read the ancient evil book aloud!), and part wacky over-the-top comedy, it’s hard to argue that The Mummy is a good film, in fact in many ways it’s certainly not, but that doesn’t mean it can’t provide a good time proving that charm can get you an awful long way.

Every once in awhile you run across a film in the DVD aisle and say to yourself, “What is that?” That’s how I came across Confidence. Released in theaters in 2003 the film takes a look at a group of con artists whose latest con has gone south and their last ditch attempt to rectify the situation, get out from behind the thumb of a crime boss, and perform the biggest con of their lives.
Jake Vig (Edward Burns) and his team of con men have just pulled off another successful con. Everything should be gravy, but then the other shoe drops. It turns out the money they’ve taken belongs to an unforgiving crime boss (Dustin Hoffman), and then, when one of the team ends up dead (Louis Lombardi), they realize they have stepped into a whole new league.
