Opening with a murder during a marriage ceremony that didn’t even happen, Chapel is a failed attempt at a psychological thriller. The penultimate episode the the season removes Rufus (Mandy Patinkin) from the ship forcing Imogene (Violett Beane) to solve the case on her own with a help of a few others who are now all hostages of Victor Sams. Our boogeyman will be revealed in the final scene of the episode, solving both the murders onboard the ship and that of Imogene’s mother. However, it’s one hell of a twist the writers have in store for Sams’ identity and it will take an entire separate episode to deal with explanations and epilogue for the key characters of the series (while also teasing the possibility of a new murder mystery if the show does get renewed).

However, now believing the mysterious Viktor Sams is behind the murder, Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin) continues to investigate this time with the help of Leila (Pardis Saremi), whose backstory gets filled in a bit more, and Teddy (Angela Zhou). As Jules and Imogene get closer, the trio on the ship will make a discovery that raises questions about Jules, the ship, and how all of it is connected to the man responsible for the death of Imogene’s mother.

With the help of the family down belong, Imogene helps Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin) uncover the murderer onboard the ship before taking off with the family and Sunil (Rahul Kohli) for an adventure of their own.

In the second episode of the series, Imogene Scott (Violett Beane) decides to help Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin), working behind-the-scenes, while he begins to interview various guests aboard the cruise ship. The arrival of Interpol at the end of the episode will no doubt lead to a shake-up in the status quo, but the time our detective had with those aboard the cruise ship prior to their involvement leads to the discovery of a few secrets and motives. “Sordid” is also notable for confirming the true identity of the murder victim as Cotesworth’s partner and the reason for him being on the ship and taking such interest in guests such as Lawrence Collier (David Marshall Grant) and Leila (Pardis Saremi).
