Once Upon a Time - Enter the Dragon

Regina (Lana Parrilla) goes undercover to learn just what Ursula (Merrin Dungey), Cruella De Vil (Victoria Smurfit), and the recently resurrected Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten) have in store for the people of Storybrooke. Realizing a trap when he sees one, Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) still wonders if the villains can’t turn the Evil Queen’s recently broken heart to their advantage and bring the old Regina back for good. It’s this question that looms over the entire episode but isn’t directly answered… at least not yet.

Once Upon a Time - Unforgiven

In an episode that reveals the dark secret Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and David (Josh Dallas) desperately want to keep from Emma (Jennifer Morrison), “Unforgiven” ties last week’s mid-season premiere with Once Upon a Time‘s First Season and the curse which brought all the fairy tale characters to Storybrooke. While offering flashbacks to the Enchanted Forrest, the episode also marks the return of an old enemy of the Charmings as Ursula (Merrin Dungey) and Cruella De Vil (Victoria Smurfit) trick the pair into helping them resurrect Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten).

Once Upon a Time - Heroes and Villains

After wrapping up the Frozen arc last week, Once Upon a Time‘s mid-season finale bids farewell to both Elsa (Georgina Haig) and Anna (Elizabeth Lail) who return home to reclaim their kingdom, throw a wedding, and eat some chocolate. Of all the casting choices the show has made over its four seasons Haig and Lail are arguably the best at creating living versions of their animated counterparts. With that arc wrapped-up, the show turns its attention back to Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) who only moments before achieving everything he’s ever desired sees it all slip from his grasp as Belle (Emilie de Ravin) banishes her power-mad husband from Storybrooke forever (or at least until the show returns from mid-season hiatus).

Once Upon a Time - Shattered Sight

Condensing the effects of the latest curse to hit Storybrooke into a single episode, “Shattered Sight” wraps up most of the Frozen storylines leaving next week’s mid-season finale to say goodbye to the various characters and set up the new villains for the second-half of the show’s Fourth Season. Offering both the audience and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) a look into her forgotten past with Ingrid (Elizabeth Mitchell) the episode continues to round out the character of the Snow Queen into more tragic figure than villain whose final sacrifice makes her return to the show (other than in flashbacks) unlikely.
