Mr. Monk and the Marathon Man

Monk Monday takes us back to San Francisco and the toils of the defective detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub). “Mr. Monk and the Marathon Man” gives us a prime suspect in a murder who appears to have a perfect alibi as furniture magnate Trevor McDowell (Peter Outerbridge) was racing a marathon at the time of his mistress’ (Marie Ward) murder. While less critical of Monk’s theory, especially after dismissing any other suspects, Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) can not figure out a way for McDowell to have committed the crime leading to some unproductive brainstorming sessions with Randy (Jason Gray-Stanford).

The Caves of Steel

Throwback Tuesday takes us back more than seven decades into a futurist world of robots and murder. The first of the Robot novels, and the first full-length robot novel written by Isaac Asimov, The Caves of Steel offered the author an opportunity to meld detective and science fiction while exploring sociological elements of an overcrowded future version of Earth where humanity lived underneath the surface in great domes giving the novel its name.

Santos, Giles Matthey, and Grace Lynn Kung). The last character of the film is the estate itself, well-shot but underutilized until the film’s final act.

Scooby-Doo - Wednesday is Missing

Wayback Wednesday takes us back to another mystery involving some meddling kids and their talking dog. Often referred to as the “lost” episode of the series because Warner was never able to get the rights to release it on DVD, Blu-ray, or streaming, “Wednesday is Missing” is an odd episode that attempts to be both a Scooby-Doo mystery and a backdoor pilot of sorts for the eventual The Addams Family cartoon. It serves the latter better than the former and in many ways is probably best forgotten as its certainly one of the weakest classic Scooby-Doo episodes ever made.
