“Performance Review” brings back rival podcaster Cinda Canning (Tina Fey) her assistant Poppy (Adina Verson) who begin digging into Mabel’s past for dirt uncovering an ex-coworker (Johnny Hopkins) with an axe to grind. Both groups are warned to stop broadcasting their private theories by Det. Kreps (Michael Rapaport), although neither take his demands seriously. Meanwhile, our podcasters discover the friend on the police force they have been texting isn’t who they thought it was leading to planning to trap who they believe may be the killer, although it doesn’t exactly go as planned.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the unsolved crimes of passion in the wealthy playground of Palm Beach, Florida. “Lady Luck” is notable for offering no opening narration, usually featuring some kind of golf metaphor, to set the stage of the crime either pre or post credits. Chris (Rob Estes) and Rita (Mitzi Kapture) go undercover at a moving underground casino whose owner (John Vargas) just killed on of his clients for not being able to pay his debts. Vargas is adequately menacing as the hot-headed Vargas who isn’t above hitting a woman from time to time including both Rita, who goes undercover as a Blackjack dealer, and the local realtor (Holly Gagnier) he’s strong-arming to help him.

After the opening sequence involving a bank robbery from the Federal Reserve by a nervous employee, only to find the money stolen, the First Season finale begins with Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan) preventing poor Alfred (John Doolittle) from ending his own life by jumping off a bridge. Early attempts by Steele and Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) to find the money only to further disappointing revelations such as the woman he was stealing the woman (Gina Gallego) for was using him and the boss who gave him a promotion to be put in the proper position was the brains behind the heist.

Returning supporting characters play key roles in “The Tell” as Charles (Steve Martin) begins corresponding with Jan (Amy Ryan) who puts his suspicions on to Mabel’s (Selena Gomez) new friend Alice (Cara Delevingne) as the possible killer. Oliver (Martin Short) finds the timing of Alice’s arrival so close after Bunny’s (Jayne Houdyshell) murder suspicious, a theory he quite publicly during a party where he pulls out one his favorite games. Although he doesn’t get the confession he sought, there is obviously more going on with Alice than meets the eye as a more than capable liar with the ability to keep her cards close to the vest (or hide them in her purse).
