“I’m not worried about Maze. I’m worried about Canada.”

Lucifer - Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith TV review

Feeling a bit restless, and taking advice from Lucifer (Tom Ellis), Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt) heads to Canada after the most dangerous bounty she can find. After terrorizing Canada for a few days, Maze catches up with Ben Rivers (Chris McKenna) only to discover he’s more illusive, albeit less murderous, than she’s been led to believe which only makes the chase more spirited… but not in the way Lucifer had intended.

“I thought this would be a little more reverential, less angel wing dumpster fire.”

Lucifer - The One with the Baby Carrot TV review

While Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Chloe (Lauren German) investigate the murder of a comedian whose jokes were stolen by one of his colleagues, the show continues to lay the groundwork of the mysterious Sinnerman. Despite the lack of evidence that the mystery man even exists, Lieutenant Marcus Pierce (Tom Welling) confides in Lucifer that he’s had run-ins with the Sinnerman before and warns him off continuing down a dangerous path. While I still think there’s a 50/50 chance Pierce will be revealed to be the devil doppelganger at some point this season, making him and ally of Lucifer is an interesting path to go down. Either way, I’m curious to see where the pair’s secret investigation takes them.

Lucifer - They're Back, Aren't They? TV review

Season Three begins with a twist. While the cliffhanger of Lucifer‘s (Tom Ellis) kidnapping at the end of Season Two is central to the plot of the season premiere, it’s not what we expect. Lucifer returns after two days in the desert to find that no one missed him. Chloe (Lauren German) just assumed he flaked again and doesn’t put much credence in his story. The discovery of a murdered man buried in the desert does help convince the detective that there is a case, although Lucifer has other problems to deal with as well besides his partner’s distrust.

Lucifer - The Complete Second Season DVD reviewLucifer‘s Second Season introduces us to Lucifer’s mother (Tricia Helfer) who escapes Hell and arrives on Earth in the body of a beautiful lawyer with plans to return to Heaven. Along with providing plenty of new drama for Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside), the Goddess’ arrival will lead to the reveal of why Chloe (Lauren German) is immune to Lucifer’s charms along with her unusual origins.

Highlights from the season include the appearance of a man who believes he’s God, Lucifer’s need to punish himself after the death of his brother, humans becoming all murdery when getting their hands on Azrael’s blade, Lucifer testifying in court, the season finale, murder at a prestigious school, Lucifer’s wife, and a girls’ night out.

Lucifer - The Good, the Bad and the Crispy TV review

Lucifer‘s Second Season finale wraps up Mum‘s (Tricia Helfer) storyline which was first teased way back in the First Season finale. While Chloe (Lauren German) begins investigating a murder caused by Lucifer‘s (Tom Ellis) mother, the devil spends most of the episode trying to find and convince Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) to restore the sword and push dear old Mum back into Heaven to be their father’s problem. Trouble is, now that Amenadiel knows Lucifer isn’t necessarily God’s favorite son he’s less inclined to help. While this is really just an excuse to draw out an important plot point, it does eventually serve a secondary purpose in the angel finding a way back to something he lost along the way.
