Lucifer - Everything's Coming Up Lucifer

Lucifer returns for it’s sophomore season with the Devil on edge wondering where his wayward mother may be and what kind of revenge she has in store for him. At first Lucifer (Tom Ellis) suspects his mother’s involvement in his latest case involving the murder of a Hollywood stand-in with devilish implications. Although that turns out not to be true, the case does allow Lucifer to work out some mommy issues before finally helping to nab the murderer (Rusty Schwimmer). As for his mother, the premiere waits until it’s closing episode to introduce us to “Mum” (Tricia Helfer).

Lucifer - The Complete First SeasonWhat would happen if the Devil went on vacation? And while on vacation decided to become a club owner who, in his spare time, solved crimes? That’s the basic premise of Lucifer. Based on the Vertigo Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Tom Ellis stars as Lucifer Morningstar. Hardly hiding, while helping Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German), the only woman not susceptible to the Devil’s charms, solve crimes, Lucifer lets everyone from Chloe to his psychologist (Rachel Harris) know that he believes himself to be the Devil. Despite witnessing the inexplicable, however, no one takes his admission seriously.

Highlights of the highly-enjoyable First Season include a very important missing cargo container, Lucifer searching for his stolen wings, the Devil attempting to do good (for all the wrong reasons), a priest being the prime suspect in a murder, Lucifer meeting Chloe’s showbiz mom, Lucifer searching for an impostor, and the final two episodes of the season where Lucifer is framed for murder.

Lucifer - Take Me Back to Hell

Can the Devil be redeemed? “Take Me Back to Hell” begins with Lucifer (Tom Ellis) framed for murder and finally willing to allow Amenadiel (DB Woodside) to return him to Hell. However, given the mess the pair have made with both Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) and Malcolm (Kevin Rankin), Lucifer’s brother convinces him to stay around long enough to put things right. Although that choice nearly gets both of them killed, it also sets up the show’s upcoming Second Season.

Lucifer - #TeamLucifer

Lucifer (Tom Ellis) is having far less fun than usual in the penultimate episode of the show’s First Season. Still unclear as to how Chloe (Lauren German) is affecting his immortality, the devil attempts to put some distance between himself and his favorite police officer. His plan is fouled up by a group of devil worshipers who perform a live sacrifice. Increasingly angered at every aspect of the case, including humanity’s view of him as a wicked goat-creature, Lucifer’s temper gets the better of him more than once, eventually getting him sent home where he has to deal with his angry brother who has a few words for Lucifer about Maze‘s (Lesley-Ann Brandt) attempts to seduce and kill him.

Lucifer - St. Lucifer

Revelations are in store for the former ruler of Hell in “St. Lucifer.” Recieving unexpected pleasure in not taking advantage of Chloe (Lauren German), and spurred on by the murder investigation into a former bad-boy basketball player turned community activist, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) attempts to recreate the joy of doing good for his own selfish purposes. While going about it all wrong, and for all the wrong reasons, the devil will still get around to solving the murder of the week. However, it’s how he solves it that proves the most interesting facet of the episode and picks up a thread I’ve been waiting to the series to tug on for most of its First Season.
