JSA #1

Every time DC relaunches JSA there are questions about what version of the team you are going to use and, more importantly, when and on what Earth you are going to place them. The new volume mixes in both original and rebooted versions of characters on Earth-0 on the modern timeline (rather than on a separate Earth or during WWII).

Justice Society of America #6

Justice Society of America #6 is a transitionary issue with the comic dealing with the fallout of the conflict from the opening arc of the series and starting to deal with the group of forgotten sidekicks who have been rediscovered. While some of these reappearances lead to tearful reunions with lost family and mentors, such as as Judy Garrick‘s heartfelt reunion with her father, many of the sidekicks don’t have mentors to return to.

Justice Society of America #5

Helena Wayne‘s journey through time to save the Justice Society of America, and her father, comes to a head with the team battling Degaton throughout time. Once the super-villain defeated, everyone returns to their own timelines, everyone except the Huntress (who has no timeline to return to).

Justice Society of America #5 is the kind of star-studded affair that writer Geoff Johns does best. Some of his best work has been on different iterations of the JSA and you can see his love for these characters come through the pages.

Justice Society: World War II

  • Title: Justice Society: World War II
  • IMDb: link

Justice Society: World War II Blu-ray reviewAfter some lean years where DC Animated had decided to explore the clusterfuck that was the New 52, things appear to be getting back on track. It’s amazing how easily and well DC can do when they make the Flash (Matt Bomer) the heart of the story (see Justice League: The New Frontier and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox). And, thank god, the creators of the film knew enough to keep the character’s gorgeous simplistic design rather than the eyesore DC has been pushing on readers for nearly a decade now.

While fighting Brainiac (Darin De Paul) with Superman (Darren Criss), the Flash accidentally races so fast he enters the Speed Force and winds up in Germany. During World War II. On an alternate Earth. On this world, alongside the Allied troops, a group of heroes is fighting off the Nazis including another Flash (Armen Taylor), Wonder Woman (Stana Katic), Hawkman (Omid Abtahi), Steve Trevor (Chris Diamantopoulos), Hourman (Matthew Mercer), and Black Canary (Elysia Rotaru).
