Infamous Iron Man #6

Infamous Iron Man #6 comic reviewWhile Infamous Iron Man #6 doesn’t attempt to explain the bizarre reveal that Cynthia von Doom is alive, and apparently involved with Reed Richards, the comic series’ latest issue does offer a glimpse into the past of Doom, Richards, and Ben Grimm. Given the unburdened character striving for redemption we’ve seen in action over the past few issues, this is a sobering reminder of who Doom used to be.

Following the trend of the comic so far, we see Doom pay a visit to a former ally in the Wizard. His attempt to take the villain down also brings in S.H.I.E.L.D. and Sharon Cater (who fares no better than Maria Hill did in stopping Victor von Doom).

Infamous Iron Man #5

Infamous Iron Man #5 comic reviewI’ll admit I’m a bit lost as to what’s happening here. Here’s what we know: Doctor Doom has taken over the role of Iron Man. S.H.I.E.L.D. sent the Thing to find and take down the former super-villain turned hero. Discovering Ben Grimm went to Latveria in search of his prey, Doom returns home to the country he once ruled with an iron fist only to discover… his mother? What is going on?

For those that don’t know, Cynthia von Doom has been long dead, damned to eternal torment by Mephisto (who Doom once battled against for her soul). And now… she’s back. And she was sent by Reed Richards who appears to be intimate with her? Seriously, WTF is going on?

Infamous Iron Man #2

Infamous Iron Man #2Doctor Doom‘s stint as the new Iron Man continues here with the reformed villain paying a visit to another former associate. As with the first issue where Doom confronted Diablo, in Infamous Iron Man #2 Victor von Doom confronts the Mad Thinker. When his associate refuses to see the world through Doom’s new hero-colored lenses, the two fight out their issues.

Along with Doom targeting another villain, the second issue of the new series also features the Thing hunting down the Fantastic Four villain in methods that don’t befit an Avenger or member of the Fantastic Four (including busting his way into the sovereign soil of the Latverian embassy and demanding to see Doom). Sadly, we’ll have to wait until the next issue to see how these former associates work out their issues. (I’m just guessing here, but I’m not expecting them to work over their issues over coffee).

Infamous Iron Man #1

Infamous Iron Man #1The Infamous Iron Man #1 isn’t the first time someone else has stepped into the armor in place of Tony Stark. It is, however, the first time Doctor Doom has done so. Set after the events of Marvel’s ongoing Civil War II storyline, a need arises for someone new to step into Iron Man’s shoes. That man, it appears, is former super-villain Victor von Doom. With Marvel’s big event still ongoing the reason for Doom stepping in is still a bit murky, but one thing is for sure – no one is going to look at Iron Man the same way after this.
