Throwback Thursday takes us back to another episode from the First Season of Human Target. In “Run,” Christopher Chance (Mark Valley) attempts to protect District Attorney Allyson Russo (Kristin Lehman) and her quest to take down of a corrupt criminal empire with the help of a confidential informant who also happens to be her father (William B. Davis). In this instance keeping his client alive means going on the run from gangsters and corrupt cops who have much to lose if the old man decides to turn his ledger over the District Attorney. Adding a challenge to the chase is a tracker unknowingly swallowed by the client, something Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley) helps with, and her her choice to keep her familial connection with her informant secret.

Although still quite enjoyable, and better than several episodes of the show’s Second Season, “Sanctuary” is the weakest episode of Human Target‘s opening season with a bit too much of Indiana Jones (mercenaries, hidden art, a secret monastery) for its own good. Always a sucker for the ladies, “Sanctuary” begins with Christopher Chance (Mark Valley) being hired by the girlfriend (Sarah Smyth) of a reformed thief (Sam Huntington) who turned on his crew rather than see the woman he loves get hurt. Now hiding out in a monastery on top of a mountain the thief is unaware the criminals he helped put away have escaped and are coming for revenge (and a priceless artifact hidden for decades somewhere in the monastery).

The show’s second episode sends Christopher Chance (Mark Valley) and Winston (Chi McBride) on-board a commercial flight to protect a hacker in possession of an Internet skeleton key which the wrong people will kill to get their hands on. Unsure as to what Casper (Ali Liebert) looks like or how the threat will unfold, Chance takes on the role of a passenger while Winston draws the short straw as one of flight attendants. Unfortunately for the good guys, the bad guys had the same idea putting members of their own team in the same locations. Chance is able to deal with the hitman among the passengers but Flight Attendant Laura (Courtney Ford) proves to be a bit trickier.
