Hit-Monkey - The Estate

While sadly not furthering the Akiko (Olivia Munn) storyline, “The Estate” involves the Collective dealing with the last living member of the Aldermen and retrieving the final artifact which has an effect on animals temporarily pushing Monkey against his new killer friends. After a purposefully off-putting setup, there’s plenty of action with the most notable piece of the episode being Haruka‘s (Ally Maki) observation about one of the members of the Collective leading to some troubling conclusions which will lead to friend vs. friend in the next episode.

Hit-Monkey - Akiko

Akiko (Olivia Munn) finally catches up to Hit-Monkey in her self-titled episode but is unable to get her revenge. Despite being warned about the dangers of letting an enemy live, Monkey can’t bring himself to kill her leading to her eventual escape and new partnership with Lady Bullseye (Reiko Aylesworth). Looks like all killers are getting ghost mentors these days. Also of note, the episode fills in some origin stories for members of the Collective and Iris (Cristin Milioti) begins a new career cleaning up crime scenes.

Hit-Monkey - Never Too Late

After wasting a good chunk of his new limited-time body on getting black-out drunk, Bryce (Jason Sudeikis) does manage to make a connection with his daughter and help the Assassins Cooperative take down another target with the help of and old friend (Jason Sudeikis) who can slow down time which provides the perfect counter to their target who can see seconds into the future and is prepared for all attacks. As you would expect, it’s a bloody episode with some wallowing from Bryce which eventually does lead to the kind of honest admission Iris (Cristin Milioti) shows interest in.

Hit-Monkey - The Rope

In an episode that features Bryce (Jason Sudeikis) and Hit-Monkey taking down a giant, who has grabbed the crazed Haruka (Ally Maki), by exploding from its head, “The Rope” provides some backstory for the mystical weapons such as the sword their friend is wielding along with a backstory for the Alderman and an introduction to the Assassins Cooperative who invite Monkey to join their cause. Quite a mix of exposition and action, “The Rope” also includes another deal between Bryce and the Devil which provides him with temporary use of a physical body on Earth (the cost of which will eventually come due).

Hit-Monkey - Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

Bryce (Jason Sudeikis), Haruka (Ally Maki), and Hit-Monkey look for who set them up leading to a pair of bloody and violent confrontations taking place in the New York Public Library and an an exclusive Gentlemen’s Club. In both situations, Haruka’s new blade overwhelms her creating a new situation for Bryce and the monkey to deal with, but “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” is most notable for the carnage the three create not once but twice which leaves no one alive left to answer their questions. The episode also introduces the character of Dot, a young assassin who chooses to help our protagonists against the Aldermen for reasons of her own. If there’s a negative to this point in the season, it’s that the humans (each with their own story) are beginning to overshadow our title character.
