Young Hellboy: Assault on Castle Death #4

Young Hellboy: Assault on Castle Death comes to a close with the wanderings of a feverish young Hellboy and his idol getting wrapped-up in the fourth and final issue of the mini-series. While there’s fun here, as there has been across all four issues, I’m not sure why we needed four issues of Hellboy stumbling around a warehouse in a fevered dream when one or two issues would likely have done the job in telling this rather simple story.

Hellboy in Love #2

“Goblin Love,” the opening two-part story to the five-issue mini-series concludes with Hellboy and Anastacia capturing one of the goblins who stole her artifacts from the British Museum. Young Hellboy: Assault on Castle Death #2

The four-issue mini-series continues with a feverish Hellboy living out a fantasy of an adventure with his hero the Lobster while unknowingly being pursued by a very real threat in the assassin from a cult sent to kill him.

The best thing Young Hellboy: Assault on Castle Death #2 has going for it is how well writers Mike Mignola and Thomas Sniegoski capture the feeling of Hellboy as a kid. On a fever-fueled adventure, Hellboy is having a grand time fighting undead soldiers (BPRD guards) and storming Castle Death (a warehouse) with his hero.
