Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn #69

Harley Quinn #69 comic reviewHarley Quinn #69 offers a bizarre single-issue story centered around 70s McDonald’s nostalgia featuring loose knock-offs of characters like Grimace, Mayor McCheese, and the Hamburglar. The comic starts with the release from prison of the Hambezzler who has completed his 30 year prison sentence after being framed for a crime he didn’t commit (which doesn’t prevent his old pals getting together to get some payback). Luckily, he’s made a new friend in Harley Quinn who coincidentally needs her taxes done.

Batman #43

Batman #43 comic review“Everyone Loves Ivy” concludes as Catwoman spends time with the woman who has taken the world, providing just enough distraction for Batman to put his plan into action and release the one person from Ivy‘s control who may be able to talk the super-villain out of remaking the world in her image.

Heading into the Batman/Catwoman wedding, Batman #43 offers us all three of the Gotham Sirens at something of a crossroads. Harley Quinn has taken more of an anti/quasi-hero role in recent years and this issues suggests something may be possible for Ivy as well.

Justice League Action - Skyjacked television review

“Skyjacked” is a fun Justice League Action short featuring Harley Quinn (Tara Strong) and Poison Ivy (Natasha Leggero) attempting to steal a Javelin from the Justice League which is complicated by the arrival of Batman (Kevin Conroy). Ever since Batman: The Animated Series the team-up of Harley and Ivy has provided some enjoyable moments on both TV and in comics, and “Skyjacked” continues that trend.

Justice League Action - Harley Goes Ape! TV review

“Harley Goes Ape!” works in a bit of Harley Quinn‘s (Tara Strong) backstory while giving us one of the more obscure villains in the DCU. Grodd‘s (David Sobolov) latest attack involves him taking control of Titano (a chimpanzee space pilot transformed into a giant monkey capable of shooting Kryptonite beams of his eyes… no, seriously!). While Superman (Jason J. Lewis) is relatively helpless to stop the beast it falls on Stargirl (Natalie Lander) with the unlikely assistance of Harley Quinn to save the day. Harley, who knew the chimp back before his transformation, proves to be the key into giving the heroes enough time to break Grodd’s hold. And Stargirl’s quick thinking helps save Titano from some pissed-off cops looking to take the creature down for all the damage Titano unknowingly caused while under Grodd’s control.

Harley and Ivy Meet Betty and Veronica #1

Harley and Ivy Meet Betty and Veronica #1 comic reviewThere’s a fun idea at the heart of bringing Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy to Riverdale. However, not necessarily this version of Riverdale nor this version of the DC characters. Something set more in the classic tone (like Scooby-Doo Team-Up) might have played better, but Harley and Ivy Meet Betty and Veronica #1 struggles with a more adult version of Riverdale and (for some reason) the New 52 versions of Harley and Ivy.

Learning that Veronica‘s father plans to pave over local wetlands to make way for a new college named after himself, gets Ivy riled up enough to head down to Riverdale with her best pal. Most of the first issue is set-up, introducing the soap-opera nature of Archie and his friends and laying the reasoning for a pair of DC characters to show up.
