Suicide Squad: Rebirth #1

Suicide Squad: Rebirth #1Suicide Squad: Rebirth #1 proves to be an intersting way to introduce a streamlined version of Task Force X. Presented from the view of Amanda Waller, who almost has her program decommissioned by the President, the comic focuses largely on the Suicide Squad’s creator offering a job to Rick Flag.

Waller finds Flag rotting in Guantanamo Bay (although he still appears to be a honest man and good soldier who just refused to accept the wrong order). And yes, the final act suffers from a villain more interested in putting on a giant light show than presenting a coherent threat. However, somewhere in-between these problematic areas Ayer provides room for his cast of malcontents to shine.

Harley's Little Black Book #3

The latest issue of Harley Quinn‘s bi-monthly team-up book pairs Zatanna, who gets booked in Big Tony’s cabaret show the same day a trio of ghosts leave Coney Island and take up residence in Harley’s building, with Harley. The plot is a little convoluted with Harley’s house guests, Zatanna, the ghosts, the demon chasing the ghosts, the buggy monster, and the more powerful creature controlling the demon. That said, what works well is the interactions between the two women.
