G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #304

There isn’t that much of note in G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #304 which confirms that Snake Eyes and Scarlett aren’t dead (to the surprise of absolutely no one) and the continuation of the partnership between the mutations from Cobra Island led by Serpentor Khan and Revanche. It’s not a bad issue by any means, just a bit of a middling middle issue of a larger arc slowly pushing events forward.

Duke #2

After his run-in with a Decepticon, and taking the blame for its death and destruction, Duke is on the run from former friends and allies leading him back to an old childhood friend. His respite, although fruitful in learning where the Transformer beacon is pointing him, is ultimately cut short as Duke and Clutch are rounded up by Stalker and Rock ‘n Roll and returned to the Pit.

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #303

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #303 is all about weaving Revanche into the main storyline and setting up a new partnership between the artificial intelligence and the mutated forces of Cobra led by Serpentor Khan. Despite past betrayals, the two forces come together with Revanche promising superior cyborg soldiers enhancing the mutated Cobra soldiers as well as a small force of Blue Ninja for another assignment.

Choosing not only to acknowledge but also incorporate the goofier elements from G.I. JOE: The Movie into the new shared G.I. JOE & Transformers universe is certainly an unexpected choice. The risk plays out all right in terms of background, although I’m hoping we see far less of Cobra-La going forward. Set before the creation of Cobra, the comic gives us the background the man who would become Cobra Commander as a scientist pushing the edges of science in Cobra-La who would then be sent out in to the world to further his own ambitions.

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #302

Although they refer to themselves as mutants, call we all just admit this feels an awful lot like G.I JOE ZOMBIES? Picking up from the previous issue, G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #302 gives us Zombie Serpentor (as I will be referring to him from here on) taking control of the mutanized rabble on Cobra Island from where he plans to lead his troops on a quest to first take over the rest of Cobra and then the world. It’s exactly what you would expect a zombie horror comic of G.I. JOE to be.
