Throwback Tuesday takes us back to crime-ridden streets of St. Canard and a hero who flaps in the night. After a robbery at a bank leaving all the cash without ink and the kidnapping of SHUSH Director J. Gander Hooter (Danny Mann) by Ammonia Pine (Mitzi McCall), Darkwing Duck (Jim Cummings) is forced to work under Vladimir Gryzlikoff (Ron Feinberg). In an episode notable for a giant vacuum cleaner and mop-wringing death trap, much of the story centers on Darkwing attempting to prove himself worthy to Gryzlikoff who puts our hero through a series of tests. Despite never earning Gryzlikoff’s respect, Darkwing and Launchpad (Terence McGovern) manage to save the SMUSH executives before they are, er, smushed, and save the day once more.

With more than a few nods and winks to the original Darkwing Duck cartoon, the rebooted DuckTales brings back Drake Mallard (Chris Diamantopoulos) as Scrooge (David Tennant) and his nephews travel to St. Canard to check out the invention of Taurus Bulba (James Monroe Iglehart). As in “Darkly Dawns the Duck,” Bulba wants to use the invention (this version pulls in matter from alternate dimensions) for his own fiendish plans. Standing in his way is the granddauther of Bulba’s missing partner, Gosalyn Waddlemeyer (Stephanie Beatriz).

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to crime-ridden streets of St. Canard and a hero who flaps in the night. When anthropologist Beatrice Bruté (Victoria Carroll) disappears, SHUSH sends Darkwing Duck (Jim Cummings), Launchpad (Terence McGovern), and Gosalyn (Christine Cavanaugh) to Africa. Attacked by gorillas, who Goaslyn gets kidnapped by when one of her many gorilla traps backfire (the others all lead to a large amount of head trauma Darkwing suffers in this episode), Darkwing eventually finds Bruté. The scientist wasn’t kidnapped, instead she chose to live with the gorillas and fight weapon smuggler Major Trenchrot (Charlie Adler) who wants to create a vacation spot for criminal under the guise of a banana plantation.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to crime-ridden streets of St. Canard and a hero who flaps in the night. “Night of the Living Spud” offers the return of Bushroot (Tino Insana) whose attempts to grow a girlfriend go wrong (in a fun homage to Young Frankenstein as Bushroot’s assistant accidentally breaks the crucial ingredient and substitutes whatever else he can find). The result is a vampire potato that turns its victims, including the Muddlefoots and Launchpad (Terence McGovern), into potato-hungry zombies (and literally couch potatoes). The episode is framed by Darkwing Duck (Jim Cummings) telling the story to a group of scouts not all that helpful in getting our hero out of the woods and features Darkwing’s troubles with the country locals who initially mistake our hero for the vampire (a misunderstanding he’ll turn to his advantage as the episode comes to a close).
