Throwback Thursday takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. When officials suspect a radio program in Hong Kong is somehow providing sensitive information to the Chinese, John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) is sent undercover as an out-of-work actor. After staging a skirmish and ingratiating himself to one of the actors (Gary Cockrell) on the radio program, Drake goes to work both looking for a spy and struggling with how the information is being transmitted under everyone’s nose. With limited time, Drake has to both discover who involved in the show is passing the information, and how they are doing it, and then break the code. Given the limited time the episode has to play out the story, Drake making it on to the show and deciphering the code (after a montage suggesting a long struggle) both turn out to be far easier than one would suspect. Eventually the spy finds what he’s looking for and manages to hide his own message in the radio program’s script.

Throwback Tuesday takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. When Beth Warren (Jeanne Moody), an American cipher working in the London Embassy, leaves the country against protocol and without any notification other than a quickly scribbled not to her roommate, John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) is sent to Venice to investigate whether the woman has been compromised. What he finds is Beth looking after her fiance (Noel Trevarthen) and his mother (Marie Burke) who are mourning a recent tragedy in the family. Although the trap takes some time before it is sprung, far east of Venice where Beth travels with her fiance to recover his brother’s body, Drake’s suspicions prove to be well-founded as he barely manages to save both his life and that of the cipher before she is lost behind the Iron Curtain.

Throwback Tuesday takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) is sent to North Africa to investigate reports of locals being poisoned by a nuclear power plant run by Europeans. While the episode admits the possibility of the reactor causing the condition, or the nuclear waste produced by the factory, neither is given much weight in the episode. The truth proves to be both insidious and convoluted as Sheik Ahmed (Marne Maitland) is poisoning his own people in small doses to anger them against the power plant which would usurp much of his power in the region.

Throwback Tuesday takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. As a favor for an old friend (Maggie Fitzgibbon), John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) heads to Southeast Asia to investigate the crash of two airplanes which Drake discovers are involved in both a smuggler’s (Bobby R. Naidoo) operation and a journalist’s (Oliver Burt) attempt to recover lost money and prestige in the region by blaming the crashes on the local government. The episode is notable mostly for Drake playing the role of a drunkard blackmailing pilot in order to undercover the operation (taking a pretty good beating by the smuggler’s goons in the process) and discover both the gold smuggling and the method the smuggler uses to deal with those who have outlived their usefulness.
