Community - Advanced Advanced Dungeons & Dragons

When the group learns of a rift between Buzz Hickey (Jonathan Banks) and his estranged son Hank (David Cross), who just happens to be an avid Dungeons & Dragons player, the group plans a special night of gaming in an attempt to bring the two together. Things don’t go quite as planned when Hank immediately sees through the ruse and decides to randomly redistribute the characters sheet from Abed‘s (Danny Pudi) carefully constructed quest meant to bring a family together which becomes a competition between the teams led by father and son.

“Abed, I don’t like this side of you. And I do not like that side of VCR technology.”

Community - VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing

In a pair of stories where things quickly escalate out of control, Jeff (Joel McHale), Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown), and Buzz Hickey (Jonathan Banks) discover a stack of unused and forgotten Greendale text books which they decide to sell on the black market. Meanwhile, Abed (Danny Pudi) and Annie (Alison Brie) get lost in an absurd competition trying to choose between Annie’s brother (Spencer Crittenden) and Abed’s girlfriend (Brie Larson) as their new roommate.

Community - App Development and Condiments

Owing more than a little to 1970s dystopian future flicks such as Zardoz and Logan’s Run (and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World), the latest episode of Community plays on a tried-and-true theme of the show in the near-immediate overreaction of the Greendale campus to absurd levels. What begins as beta testing for a new app called MeowMeowBeenz that helps students rate each other and their professors spirals quickly out of control as a rigid class structure is adopted creating a dystopian future on the campus lorded over by the Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) and the rest of the “5’s.”

Community - Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality

The night doesn’t go as planned for anyone as “Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality” features several forced pairings in an episode with several fun moments but doesn’t ever quite click (although it does offer some fun character interactions along the way). With the departure of Donald Glover, it appears Buzz Hickey (Jonathan Banks) has been drafted into duty as Abed (Danny Pudi) new sounding board as the pair bond over the course of the evening when the whackadoodle faces Hickey’s consequences for accidentally destroying several of the professor’s cartoon duck drawings.

Community - Analysis of Cork-Based Networking

The Save Greendale Committee face two important tasks (or what passes for important at Greendale Community College) in the latest episode. As Annie (Alison Brie) gets lost in the politics and labyrinthine, back-dealing, behind-the-scenes world of the college while trying to help Buzz Hickey (Jonathan Banks) get a simple bulletin board rehung in the cafeteria, Jeff (Joel McHale), Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown), Professor Ian Duncan (John Oliver), and Chang (Ken Jeong) create the theme for the school dance (not initially realizing where Chang got his brilliant ides of “Bear Down for Mid-Terms”).
