Batman - Batman Is Riled

In honor of Batman‘s 75th Anniversary we continue to look back at the more memorable moments on the big and small screen. Batman ’66 #12

Batman '66 #12Neither Marsha, Queen of Diamonds nor the Minstrel rank high the list of Batman‘s rogues gallery, but that doesn’t stop the latest issue of Batman ’66 from delivering another fun issue. The main story focuses on Marsha’s obsession with locating the world’s largest diamond which just happens to be housed in the Batcave.

Although the villain and her minions break into the Batcave and steal the diamond, writer Jeff Parker works in a reasonable explanation why Martha doesn’t know her exact location or choose to stick around to learn the true identity of the Dynamic Duo. Arguing over their cities’ most famous figures, both men disappear to change when the train comes under attack by General Gumm and his unstoppable glue solvent. Although Robin arrives in time for back-up, neither duo proves a match for the madman leaving all four costumed heroes glued to the top of the train in the cliffhanger ending.

Batman - Fine Feathered Finks / The Penguin's in a Jinx

Continuing to take a look back at Batman’s more memorable moments on the big and small screen, the second two-part episode arc of 1966 Batman TV-series starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin introduced the world to Burgess Meredith as the Penguin. Complete with cigarette, waddle, and a signature laugh (meant to hide the cough caused from Meredith smoking constantly while in character), Meredith is in fine form in only the first of several appearances over the show’s three series run and feature film.
