Arrow - Reversal television review

“Reversal” offers two seemingly independent plotlines which will eventually connect to reveal the identity of the new big bad for Season Six. Good news everyone, it’s not an evil archer! Diggle‘s (David Ramsey) run as Green Arrow continues, although we get no follow-up to last week’s foreshadowing of his steroid-ish drug use to keep his tremor in check which will no doubt cause the end of his run as the vigilante through his death or someone else’s. Team Arrow struggles to understand the motives of Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) who begins killing off random people in Star City. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is approached by her old Helix contact Alena (Kacey Rohl) who reveals the cyber-terrorist Cayden James (Michael Emerson), the one Felicity helped release from prison, is about to launch a major attack which could lead to millions of casualties.

Arrow - Tribute television review

Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) faces attacks on two sides in “Tribute.” First, the release of a photograph of him as Green Arrow creates a media frenzy around the Mayor of Star City, creates trouble for his son at school, and launches a FBI investigation into his life. And second, the reappearance of Anatoly Knyazev (David Nykl) is problematic with the Bratva soldier and his men kidnap visiting dignitaries and hold them for ransom. The episode B-story also finally delves into just what’s wrong with Diggle (David Ramsey) since his return from Lian Yu.

Arrow - Fallout television review

Despite choosing to end the flashbacks into Oliver Queen‘s (Stephen Amell) lost years before his rescue and return home, the new season of Arrow can’t quite resist an entire new set of flashbacks to fill out the season premiere. Opening five months after the death of Prometheus and the explosions on Lian Yu, “Fallout” gradually fills in some of the gaps of what happened to various characters. Despite explosions on the entire island, the only casualty turned out to be William’s mother (Anna Hopkins) who appears in an awfully clunky death scene just long enough for Oliver to promise to take care of William (Jack Moore). Thea (Willa Holland) may be temporarily stuck in a coma, likely until sweeps, the rest of the team comes back in one piece (more or less).

Arrow - Lian Yu television review

The Fifth Season of Arrow comes to a close in an explosive season finale that returns Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) to Lian Yu to save his kidnapped friends and put an end to Prometheus (Josh Segarra) once and for all. And with the deck stacked against him, he’s not going alone. It’s homecoming week in the season finale as Ollie enlists the help of Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law), Digger Harkness (Nick E. Tarabay), and Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett). The final choice is a bit odd, considering the last dozen times we’ve seen him Deathstroke has been murderously intent on killing Oliver. Apparently sometimes prison rehabilitation works, as Slade is less murdery and crazy than we saw him last. While one of Oliver’s rag-tag band betrays him, Slade proves to be worthy of his trust.
