Percy Jackson: Sea of MonstersBased on Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians young adult novel series, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters picks up a few months after the events of the underwhelming Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief in which Percy (Logan Lerman) and his fellow demigod best buds Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) and Grover (Brandon T. Jackson) successfully returned Zeus’ (Sean Bean) stolen thunderbolt and Percy came to an understanding with his absent father Poseidon (Kevin McKidd) and took his place among the other half-human sons and daughters of the Olympian Gods.

Things have quieted down a bit as the introspective Percy has begun questioning his own abilities as a hero as he is constantly outshone by the bitchy Clarisse (Leven Rambin). When the safety of Camp Half-Blood (the truly awful name for the secret village where the demigods dwell) is put in jeopardy Clarisse is assigned to retrieve the Golden Fleece in order to bolster the protective barrier around the camp which has begun to fail.

Not willing to see the pair screw this up, Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Frank (Danny DeVito) offer their own brand of helpful support which leads to an awkward dinner that somehow, despite all logic, doesn’t turn off the pair’s new friends.

Believing the situation to be too good to be true, and some kind of rich game of humiliation, Dennis, Mac, and Frank tag along on a trip to the Taft mansion the next day. After he stops trying to hit on Charlie’s new lady love, Dennis does discover that Dee and Mac have gotten themselves humiliated exactly as he thought they would. That’s right, possibly for the first time ever, Dennis Reynolds was right. Dennis is able to get revenge for Mac and Dee’s public humiliation, by showing an awkward recording of Mac and his new rich pal to an entire room of his peers. Charlie’s situation, however, proves to be more complicated.

This season builds on the relationships created in the First Season and gives us the return of a few familiar faces, most notably Alex Hunter (Gloria Votsis) and Diana (Marsha Thomason), and the introduction of insurance investigator Sara Ellis (Hilarie Burton). Mozzie (Willie Garson) will survive an attempt on his life while try to solve the code hidden in the music box. There are also a couple of episodes where Peter and Neal switch roles.
