Exploding Kittens - Tartar Recall

After a much shorter intro to how Beelzebub ended up on Earth in the form of Devilcat (Sasheer Zamata), “Tartar Recall” gives us the battle between Godcat (Tom Ellis) and Devilcat on Earth, complicated by the cuddly and furry frames. The battle, and unexpected bonding between the two attempting to research Armageddon through the oeuvre of Bruce Willis, is quite fun. The human story which bleeds over into the battle between the cats involves Marv’s (Mark Proksch) attempt to put on a play in the story by his daughter Greta (Ally Maki) unionizing the workers into demanding minimal rights.

Wizards of Waverly Place - I Almost Drowned in a Chocolate Fountain

Wayback Wednesday takes us back to a family of wizards living in Waverly Place. Following the formulaic setup of one of the Russo children using magic for their own gain leading to unintended consequences, “I Almost Drowned in a Chocolate Fountain” is pure sitcom nonsense that nevertheless delivers some fun along the way. The premise of the episode is fueled by Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T. Austin) being at odds with their sister and taking some retaliatory action against Alex (Selena Gomez) after she uses a Pocket Elf to cheat on her Spanish test.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1

A new run of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles begins here. In what launches as the first part of a year-long arc, after some time apart, the Turtles are scattered around the world. Our first issue is set around only Raphael who has spent the last several weeks (months?) in prison. Partly punishing himself, and also doing a little work under the radar for the warden, Raphael keeps his head down for the most part (other than preventing a group of prisoners from escaping).

Mr. Monk and the Marathon Man

Monk Monday takes us back to San Francisco and the toils of the defective detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub). “Mr. Monk and the Marathon Man” gives us a prime suspect in a murder who appears to have a perfect alibi as furniture magnate Trevor McDowell (Peter Outerbridge) was racing a marathon at the time of his mistress’ (Marie Ward) murder. While less critical of Monk’s theory, especially after dismissing any other suspects, Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) can not figure out a way for McDowell to have committed the crime leading to some unproductive brainstorming sessions with Randy (Jason Gray-Stanford).
