Most will recognize Laura Vandervoort from her role as Supergirl on Smallville or Lisa from ABC’s recent reboot of V. The Canadian actress’ career began at the age of 15 where she made guest-appearances on several TV-shows and starred in a series of TV-movies (including the humorously titled Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire). Recently Vandervoort allowed Esquire into her home for part of their Me in My Place series which provides “intimate moments with beautiful women in their own homes, in their own clothes, and at their invitation.” In the interview the actress discusses her life as a child actress, growing up as a tomboy and her dedication to martial arts, surviving a bout of meningitis when she was young, her obsession with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Kristy Swanson, and leaving Canada and moving to Los Angeles.
