- Title: Legacies – Season Four

While it might not have been the strongest of Legacies four seasons, the final season does pay off on the promise introduced in The Originals with the death of Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) and the rebirth of the Tribrid who kills Malivore, and Landon (Aria Shahghasemi), and unlocks the final third of her powers when she comes back as a vampire. Most of the season plays on the fallout of Hope’s reemergence who returns without her humanity becoming a dangerous frenemy to the school for most of the season.
While evil-Hope is the villain for part of the season, the larger looming threat are the returning Gods who are aided by longtime Mikaelson family enemy Aurora de Martel (Rebecca Breeds) who gets a body-swap episode with Hope and her own redemption arc before all is said and done.
Highlights from the season include the return of several of The Originals cast, first Rebekah (Claire Holt) alone and later the larger family in attempts to save Hope. The series finale also offers one more prominent return as well. We also get the Super Squad planning to take on the Gods, a “this is your life” episode for Hope, our lost souls’ attempts to escape Limbo, Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) turning into a vampire, and an early farewell to Josie (Kaylee Bryant, who exits long before the finale). While I think the show still had stories to explore, and the Gods were a bit of a mixed bag, Legacies did have time to go out on its own terms hitting the major unresolved stories such as Hope’s rebirth, the final fate of Landon, and a twist that allows both Saltzman sisters to continue their own paths.
