As Miyamoto Usagi deals with the harsh reality of their host who turns out to be Yuki-Onna, the woman of the snows who feeds on the life force of others, a surprised Jei learns of the closeness of his rival forcing his new gang back into the snow for a confrontation. The action from Usagi Yojimbo: Ice and Snow #2 comes both from Usagi saving Yukichi from the demon and Jei solidifying his control over his new followers before ordering all of them back out onto the mountain in search of the rabbit ronin.
While we may not get the pair’s eventual confrontation in the next issue, we should see the two separate stories blend together with the wounded Yuki-Onna coming upon Jei and his band in the woods. Wounded, and in need of sustenance, Yuk-Onne can’t pass up such a juicy target. But after all is said and done, will Jei and Yuki-Onna turn out to be enemies or perhaps friends with a common cause?
