With the world held hostage to the insane demands of Orchis, mutants have abandoned Earth. However, those choosing to ignore Charles Xavier‘s edict have decided to remain in order to do some good in a world which has turned their backs on mutantkind. One of those is Nightcrawler who has taken one of Spider-Man’s old suits and become yet another Spider-inspired hero of New York City.
When the comic focuses on the Friendly Neighborhood Devil Spider (or whatever he’s choosing to call himself) and his growing fanbase, the comic is fun. However, for someone who isn’t regularly reading every X-book to follow the larger event storyline, when the comic focuses back on Orchis and the experiments of the Vulture, things begin to fall off. For the casual fan, the adventure works as a bit of a What If… tale, but I doubt I’ll stick around to see the larger story play out.
