Reimaging the timeline of the Transformers arrival on Earth, the war between the Decepticons and Autobots has found a new home. With just a handful of warriors on both sides, and many more in need of repair and energon, the Decepticons led by Starscream attempt to wipe out the Autobots once and for all.
Not dissimilar to the television series, Transformers #4 focuses on Optimus Prime‘s connection with the humans and his sacrifice to help save Spike. The new series also gives us a friendship between Cliffjumper and Carly who help save Optimus and Spike from Starscream who then shoots up a hospital in anger. Along with Carly, and a bigger role for Cliffjumper, the comic also brings a heightened level of damage and carnage to the robots with the Decepticons even cannibalizing each other for spare parts. While the art style is a little rough for me in spots, I’ll admit I’m enjoying this new take on the Transformers arrival on Earth.
