Feeling much more a Batman story than a Scooby-Doo story, The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #7 features Batman and Mystery, Inc. working together to stop the Scarecrow who is performing a series of heists around Gotham City using his fear gas. We’re shown the villain at the off-set and, although there is some discovery to be made about uncovering Scarecrow’s master to get his gas into every home, it’s really Batman who is responsible for the deductions. You could take the Scooby-Doo characters completely out of the story and that wouldn’t change it all that much.
The comic does continue the thread of the series with Batman spending more time with Daphne, taking her under his wing, a trip to the Batcave for the gang, and Scooby and Shaggy‘s cowardice playing into the villain’s downfall based on the idea if the pair are already afraid of everything what’s a little gas to them? How the scaredy cats actually capture the villain is a bit unclear, however, taking place off-panel.
