Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #3

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #3 continues the trend of focusing on a single turtle after the brothers split and scattered across the world, eventually bringing Leonardo back into contact with both Raphael and Michelangelo, leaving Donatello to be the focus of the fourth issue. We find Leonardo in India on the banks of the Ganges River looking for peace and enlightenment, and perhaps death, among the corpse-eating mud turtles of the region.

Leo’s meditations are interrupted by an attack of the Foot Clan leading to the katana-wielding ninja doing what he does best and leaving his would-be assassins lying in their own blood for the remaining mud turtles to clean up. Leo’s attempt at an inner journey makes sense, as does his ability to jump back into action when his attempted peace is violated. Reunited with his brothers, neither of whom is happy to see the others, leaves one more turtle whose separate story needs to be told.
