Superman Sunday takes us back to the Silver Age for an odd adventure beginning with both the Flash and Superman waking up in each others costumes and suffering from amnesia. As Flash/Superman takes a trip to Metropolis and goes to great lengths to disguise himself as Clark Kent and fit in at The Daily Planet through the use of a mask and wig, Superman/Flash heads for Central City and later towards Metropolis in search of Superman using less skilled disguise techniques. Oh, the Silver Age.
While both have super-speed, each grows concerned that the rest of their power set seems to be malfunctioning. Eventually the pair come together and, after a short confrontation, piece together who each other are and what happened to them a bizarre story involving a threat from space. Now back in their regular costumes, with their memories restored, they save the Earth with Superman… hitting it really hard and moving the planet out of the way of the invading plant monster. Oh, the Silver Age.
Nearing the end of the Silver Age, the comic is still full of Silver Age shenanigans. The fact that Barry can disguise himself so well that even the best reporters on the planet can’t recognize that he isn’t Clark Kent is but one of may stumbling blocks to get around. There’s also plenty of farce with “Clark” unable to perform his job and both heroes just missing each other multiple times before their confrontation which works to jumpstart their memories. As for Superman’s “plan” to save the Earth, let’s just say the ending of Superman: The Movie doesn’t look quite so foolish by comparison.
