Spidey Saturday takes us back to the early 80s and the time that Jennifer Walters defended the Rhino in court against Foggy Nelson (who had some excellent legal strategy by the way). Eventually the Rhino grows weary of court and escapes (while dropping puns) leading both Spider-Man and She-Hulk to track him down (although for awhile She-Hulk seems determined to protect her client before realizing she’s on the wrong side and teams-up with Spider-Man to end his rampage and return him to court).
The two other stories also involve team-ups. The Chameleon causes havoc stealing from a Science Fair while dressed as Spider-Man and later repeats his act as Daredevil. The two heroes, trusting each other implicitly (unlike Spidey’s misunderstanding with She-Hulk), work together to clear their names. And the final short tale involves Spidey and Easy Reader taking down a crew using a distraction of a fortune teller and his ventriloquist dummy garnering attention while their crew attempt to rob a nearby store.
The issue is mostly notable for its art, the questionable actions of several characters, and the hilarious dumbing down of the legal system for the comic’s younger demographic. Despite some of the writing, the issue is a bit of wacky fun giving readers multiple different Spidey team-ups in a single issue.
