Attempting to make amends for her action of killing the Sultan of Turan which plunged his kingdom into chaos to be fought over by warlords and the Cult of Set, Red Sonja attempts to find the missing young prince and restore some order to the region. This is easier said then done as the cult has already got their fangs into the young boy with plans of their own for both the princeling and the kingdom of Turan.
Red Sonja: Death and the Devil #1 is a solid enough issue to kick off this new storyline with Red Sonja breaking up a sacrifice to the snake god (the the bitter disappointment of the person they had planned to sacrifice). Her search for the prince leads to some torture of a priest and a meeting with the undead assassin Bloodless who also seeks the boy for his own purposes and a temporary partnership between the pair (although Bloodless’ thoughts of murder suggest that when the pair eventually part ways it will be anything but bloodless).
