- Writer: Larry Hama
- Artist: Ron Joseph
Neither Cobra nor the JOEs are safe after Dr. Venom transfers his consciousness into a giant android, and in the process has gone completely insane. With Cobra Commander in the clutches of the deranged robot, Dr. Mindbender has no choice but to help the JOEs in a furious last stand to take down the mech and end the battle.
G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #258 offers plenty of action as most of the comic takes place during the battle which sees the nearly-indestructible killer robot shoot down Cobra Rattlers and a fairly heroic move by Bombstrike, proving true to her name, to take the the enemy once and for all… or did she (after all, the story arc continues in the next issue)?
The final moments of Dr. Venom’s life provide the opportunity for writer Larry Hama to pull back the curtain on the villain’s past and offer us a glimpse at the road which led him to Cobra (a road it seems which was littered with the man’s victims). Worth a look.
