A comic 40 years in the making, G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #300 wraps up Larry Hama’s continuation of his Marvel Comics run which moved over to IDW in May 2010. IDW’s run had its ups-and-downs and controversial stories including the death of Snake Eyes. To no surprise Hama wraps up the run (but not the full story) with the return of Snake Eyes who is brought back to life by Dr. Mindbender‘s experiments only to immediately break out of Cobra’s control and help the Joes win on Cobra Island.
Hama gives us Snake Eyes back in the arms of Scarlett as a feel good moment, but left the story on a cliffhanger perhaps in hopes that eventually another publisher will let him continue the run (hey, it worked once). It may not be quite worth the wait (or the cover price), but we get Snake Eyes and a wrap-around cover featuring an insane amount of characters. That’s better than Marvel offered in the 90s.
